Accretion environments of active galactic nuclei

چکیده
Abstract We study accretion environments of active galactic nuclei when a supermassive black hole wanders in circumnuclear region and passes through an interstellar medium there. It is expected that Bondi–Hoyle–Lyttleton-type the matter takes place stream trapped by gravitational field appears from tail shock region. Since likely to have certain amount specific angular momentum, eventually forms ring around hole. According recent studies, consists thick envelope thin core, momenta are transferred inner side facing opposite core respectively. As result, flow excretion extend envelope, disk core. The predicted terminate at some distance, forming ring, while considered become supersonic wind flowing infinity. interact with toward be collimated bipolar cones. These pictures provide guideline interpreting overall suggested observations.

Obscured Active Galactic Nuclei and Obscured Accretion
Most of the local active galactic nucleus (AGN) population is obscured and much of the Xray background originates in obscured AGNs. The contribution of obscured accretion to the growth of massive black holes is discussed here. The recent identification of significant samples of the X-ray sources that dominate the X-ray background intensity has shown a redshift peak at 0.7–0.8, rather than the r...
متن کاملWarped accretion disks and the unification of Active Galactic Nuclei
Orientation of parsec-scale accretion disks in AGN is likely to be nearly random for different black hole feeding episodes. Since AGN accretion disks are unstable to selfgravity on parsec scales, star formation in these disks will create young stellar disks, similar to those recently discovered in our Galactic Center. The disks blend into the quasi-spherical star cluster enveloping the AGN on t...
متن کاملJets and accretion processes in Active Galactic Nuclei: further clues
We present evidence in favour of a link between the luminosity radiatively dissipated in the central engine of radio–loud Active Galactic Nuclei and the kinetic power in their jets. This piece of evidence is based on the relation we find between the luminosity in broad emission lines and the kinetic power in pc–scale radio jets, for a sample of radio–loud quasars for which suitable data are ava...
متن کاملTesting thermal reprocessing in active galactic nuclei accretion discs
The thermal reprocessing hypothesis in active galactic nuclei (AGN), where extreme ultraviolet/X-ray photons are reprocessed by the accretion disc into optical/UV photons, predicts wavelength-dependent time-delays between the optical continuum at different wavelengths. Recent photometric monitoring by Sergeev et al. has shown that the time-delay is observed in 14 AGN, and generally seen to incr...
متن کاملAccretion Flows in X–Ray Binaries and Active Galactic Nuclei
Hard X–ray emission is ubiquitous in accreting black holes, both in Galactic binary systems and in Active Galactic Nuclei. I review the different spectra which can be seen from these systems, and possible ways of producing this emission. X–ray reflection should give an observational test of these scenarios, but we need better models before this can give an unambiguous diagnostic of the accretio...
